Beauty Trend: The Faux Bob

March 15th, 2010

The Faux Bob is a Hot Hair Trend for Spring!Want fabulous hair for Spring?

Well if you are daring (or even just a bit creative) the faux bob may be the look for you!  This funky, hip yet retro beauty trend can be achieved by actually having a stylist cut your hair (real bob) or just some great pinning technique with hair pins.  Whatever you decide, the faux bob is a refreshingly new yet captivatingly nostalgic beauty trend that will reinvent any woman!

  • Create Volume & Texture.  To start, hair needs to be wet and about shoulder length or longer.  You want the faux bob to have enough length so the waves will be evident in the next step.  Take a non-flake formula mousse and work it into the hair at the scalp and then add volumizing cream or spray to the rest of the shaft and the ends of the hair.  You are creating the sturdy base for your faux bob.

  • Diffuse Dry.  With a hair dryer, diffuse-dry your hair to bring the waves out.  If you have naturally wavy or curly hair, you don’t have to do anything else for texture.  However, if you have naturally straight hair, you need to add texture paste to your locks so waves can be evident in your faux bob.

  • Secure Your Style.  Lastly, the additional length of your hair needs to be secured to get the faux bob.  Twist hair into a rope, loop under at the nape of neck and secure with a few bobby pins.  Gently muss hair framing the face to get a finished faux bob.

Tada!  Congratulations on your new fabulous faux bob!

You are now up-to-the minute with your hair style.  The faux bob has been taking over all of the Spring runways.
