Now that I have covered yellow eyeshadow and purple eyeshadow, I felt it was only logical to move on to shades of blue eyeshadow!
I am a person who adores blue. My closet is overflowing with garments in shades of navy, royal, periwinkle, wedgewood, turquoise, robin’s egg, and denim (just to name a few shades). Actually, one of my first makeup purchases was for blue eyeshadow. You get the point, I own alot of blue. So the fact that I love blue mixed with my caramel-cinnamon-chocolate complexion has made me become very skilled at the purchasing and application of the right shades of blue eyeshadow.
The issue is that blue eyeshadow, unlike yellow eyeshadow, does not necessarily blend well or mesh with every skin tone. If you apply too much of a certain color of blue, and the color doesn’t suit you well, you will end up with a chalky ashy appearance on your eyelids. So, to avoid much of this problem, I have discovered that always starting with a navy base shade of blue eyeshadow on my eyelids anchors any other colors that I plan on wearing. I apply this navy shade along the top lash line to about half way to the crease. From this point I can choose between two and five other shades that I wish to wear to compliment whatever I am wearing that day.
Another great tip is if you plan on wearing a very pale shade of blue eyeshadow, only apply this to the inner corner of your eyelids to about a quarter of a way across the eye itself. Applying blue eyeshadow here will serve as a second highlight area and make people’s eyes automatically be drawn to your eyes when they are looking at you. The first highlight area to apply light or metallic shades of blue eyeshadow is beneath the brow bone. A perfectly arched (read: waxed or threaded) eyebrow always serves as a great compliment to eyeshadow application in this area!
What are some of your favorite shades of blue eyeshadow and how do you like to wear them?
