Ok, don’t laugh, but I am really getting into the spirit of summer and taking everything to bright extremes in my wardrobe, include eyeshadow!
Yesterday, while browsing the aisles of one of my favorite beauty retailers **cough: Sephora
**, I was absolutely enthralled by all the shades of yellow eyeshadow that I saw on display. From soft pale yellow to bold bright neon yellow eyeshadow, I saw (and loved) it all! So, being the beauty maverick and maven that I am, I asked my favorite beauty assistant (she’s awesome, I only come on the days she works) if she could help me chose a few shades. Now, I have a deep complexion, think cinnamon + honey + a touch of bronze. I was a little leary of how some of the shades of yellow eyeshadow would look on my complexion, but I figured, why not. Well, it turns out, Shelia (my fav makeup artist) was able to apply the various colors of yellow eyeshadow with different brushes and using different products as a base to adjust some of the brassier yellows to fit me better. Her biggest tip was to apply foundation to your eyelids if you plan on using a very bright or bold color of yellow eyeshadow that you wish to tone down. I was a little over exuberant yesterday about the yellow eyeshadows, because I woke up this morning with itchy eyelids! Anyway, my little discomfort will soon subside and I can wear some of the great shades of yellow eyeshadow I purchased. For those other brave beauty souls out there, I listed my favorite picks below.
